Welcome to the Memory Lane: Bear in the Big Blue House Lyrics & Nostalgia
Few television intros are as instantly capable of transporting late-90s and early-2000s kids back to their living room floors as the opening notes of Bear in the Big Blue House. Created by Mitchell Kriegman for Jim Henson Television, the beloved children’s show revolved around Bear—a towering, comforting, cha-cha-dancing 7-foot-tall brown bear—and his vibrant community of friends in Woodland Valley.
At the heart of the show’s magic were its iconic musical numbers, most notably the energetic opening theme song, “Welcome to the Blue House,” and the gentle, heartwarming “Goodbye Song” sung alongside Luna the Moon at the end of every episode.
The Opening Anthem: “Welcome to the Blue House”
The show’s theme song sets an entirely welcoming, exploratory tone. It introduces viewers to the layout of the house and all of its quirky inhabitants, from Tutter the anxious little mouse to Ojo, Treelo, and the otters Pip and Pop.
